STRUGGLING WITH A BASIC NEED: SELF ESTEEM

this web page is no longer maintained click here for newer version 4.0

I’m struggling to find the road to emotional maturity and make peace with myself.  I seek a sense of my own intrinsic value, self respect, confidence in my ability to handle life and being able to enjoy it in relaxed fashion.  I want to leave behind what’s inside me too often now: feeling unworthy, that I can’t cope, that I’m a failure; being too concerned about what others think of me; anxiety, fear, and self doubt. When I’m really down, on myself and others, it seems like a battle rages inside. (Note: Some lose the battle, descending into a hell of bitterness / self hatred. Others compensate for unworthiness by excessively self sacrificing / doing things for others -- often full of sorrow for themselves.  A few find the strength to change and grow.)
