The Worldview & Cultural Literacy Course  (version 4.2 based)

a free online course based on the Choices We Make cards & booklet
for those of high school (11th grade) age or greater
and college students, lifelong learners of all ages!

wanting to:

1) make sense out of “the confusion of existence” / see “the big picture”

2) have a character education learning experience that points you toward a more mature worldview

3) get a global education based grounding in the human cultural experience

4) figure out what you believe and value, and why by considering all the possibilities and choices out there*

5) better understand words / beliefs / background behind the important choices we make

6) become better prepared to live in a disinformation-plagued world where finding common ground is increasingly important

*in a metaphorical sense, a goal is summarized with this warning:
"As you shop in “The Reality Marketplace” avoid spending your “reality cash” too early, before you have seen everything.”
from Coming of Age in the Global Village,  by Stephen P. Cook,  with Donella H. Meadows.

The course can be formally completed in an intensive one year full 52 weeks, in a more leisurely two-year (four 13 week sessions) format, or in any other way of your choosing. Based on the 104 worldview themes paired to make 52 choices—where (we suggest) each week you focus on a different choice—everything you need is available online.
This includes the 104 worldview theme web pages— including thousands of “More to Explore” links—and the 52 choices web pages—including the “Related Words, Beliefs, Background” pages from the Project Worldview Cultural Literacy Encyclopedia. Altogether this has over 1500 entries with descriptions totaling roughly 90,000 words. Typically two ten question self tests—designed to not only test your understanding but to guide your learning and promote critical thinking—are provided for each choice, with (altogether) nearly 1100 questions.

After a suggested initial grounding in worldview literacy, you'll turn to systematic consideration of paired choices in the Choices We Make cards or booklet. Each week, after reading the theme descriptions for each choice (found both online or on the cards / in the booklet), you will read the “Related Words, Beliefs, Background” encyclopedia entries for the choice, take a first self test, review any wrong answers and encyclopedia entries as needed, use the “More to Explore” links to surf the web to glean additional understanding in a real world context, take a second self test, and finally again review any wrong answers and encyclopedia entries as needed. Some may have the opportunity to benefit from discussion with teacher, facilitator, or students during this process. Each 13 week unit will end with a unit exam.* The course will end with your using either the Choices We Make booklet or a deck of 52 Choices We Make playing cards, and recording selections you make on a scorecard you’ll find online. These data will provide input and enable your completing the “Choices We Make Worldview Analysis for One Person” computer program. This will give a  % correlation between your worldview and various “generic” worldviews and point out internal contradictions in your worldview based on your choices.
