Exploring the feelings behind the worldview theme--another project WORLDVIEW theme song...
song
for theme #15: The Collective Cognitive Imperative “Come
My Way” by Stephen P. Cook to be sung to the tune of “Let It Be” by John Lennon & Paul McCartney / The Beatles |
|
In the world of too much thinking If you find yourself confused today There’s a simple answer Come my way1 These people all around you here They hang on every word I say You can be one of them Come and stay Come my way Come and stay Don’t delay Or nay say Trust in me my wisdom Come my way Lost lamb your good shepherd2 Won’t let you go astray Here in greener pastures Children play In a world of false messiahs3 Rejoice, you’ve found the way The Chosen One leads you Let us pray |
Children play Please obey Don’t delay Or nay say Trust in me my wisdom Let us pray We’ll protect you and love you Be there for you come what may Honor God the Father Dues to pay If my words live inside you4 Then darkness will go away Your faith greets the morning A new day Come my way Please obey Dues to pay A new day Trust in me my wisdom Come my way |
SONG—NOTES
/ COMMENTS 1—Highly
suggestible people have been likened to dumb herd animals like sheep.
2—The
good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. This metaphor is used by
Jesus and is in the Bible’s
23rd Psalm. 3—False
messiahs or false prophets are pretenders to being leaders chosen by
God. The term, used by
Jesus himself in warning
his disciples, has a different meaning to Christians, Jews, and
Muslims. 4—The
internalizing of parental voices or commands of authority figures has an
interesting history if one takes Julian Jaynes’
ideas seriously. He believed that before modern consciousness was
fully developed there was a different mentality based on
auditory hallucinations called the bicameral mind. See Part If of
this book. Comment:
This theme potentially offers an escape from what may be the painful,
failed running of your life. With that escape seemingly comes ceding
personal responsibility and positioning yourself so that you can no
longer be hurt by those looking to assign blame. In that sense you have
new emotional armor. |
