Brief Questionnaire to Assess Compatibility
With Worldview Themes #45A & 45B

Respond to each of the following below on a 1 to 5 scale, where
     1= strongly disagree      2 = disagree      3 = neutral      4 = agree      5 = strongly agree
If you don’t have understand, or are confused by a particular question, select 3= neutral.

Note: An * in front of the question indicates that this has been used in national public opinion surveys.

1. In managing my own household economy and in taking part in discussions about local or national economic policy, I do not advocate the act of having or doing something today unless this can be done without contracting a monetary or ecological debt against tomorrow.

2. If I can’t afford something that I want now, I don’t hesitate to finance it by borrowing money or by using my credit card, and paying it off as I can later.

*3. In the past year I have been pressured to pay bills by stores, creditors, or bill collectors.

*4. It’s estimated that each American has, on average, around $7,000 of outstanding consumer debt (all debt except real estate or home mortgage debt). I’d say that my own debt is around that amount or more.

5. I prefer having or doing something today and, if need be, borrowing money to make that possible, rather than waiting until some distant future time when I've saved enough money to pay for it.

6. When it comes to buying things, no matter how large or small, I abide strictly by a “pay as you go” policy. This means that if I can’t pay for something completely without borrowing, I don’t make the purchase but instead find an alternative or save my money up until I can!

*7. If you had to choose, holding down the national budget deficit would be more important than increasing spending on education, health care, or Social Security.

*8. I am very satisfied with the amount of money that I am saving.

*9. If I was asked to name the three most important aspects of “living the American dream” (for those outside America, substitute “living the good life”) from the following list: freedom to make your own choices, children having a good education, having a good education, good health, a secure retirement, a good paying job, having a family, owning a home, a job you like, lack of debts, having leisure time and taking vacations, “lack of debts” would be one of the three things I’d name.

*10. I do not have a credit card.

*11. I worry about not being able to pay my bills.
