Brief Questionnaire to Assess Compatibility
With Worldview Themes #35A & 35B

Respond to each of the following below on a 1 to 5 scale, where
     1= strongly disagree      2 = disagree      3 = neutral      4 = agree      5 = strongly agree
If you don’t have understand, or are confused by a particular question, select 3= neutral.

Note: An * in front of the question indicates that this has been used in national public opinion surveys.

1. Given that typically I rely on myself, on my own wisdom and effort -- rather than the authority of others, their help or the government's help -- someone might describe me as self reliant.

2. I greatly value the freedom of individual expression and behave accordingly.

3. Given my behavior, I doubt that anyone would ever refer to me as unconventional or describe me as an activist, reformer, non-conformist or revolutionary.

*4. With respect to different forms of political action that people take can, I would never join with others and take part in a boycott.

*5. Generally speaking, I have an extremely unfavorable opinion of people who organize protests against government actions they strongly oppose.

*6. At some time over the last five years I have given money to a group advocating social change.

*7. Consider the following eight things that one might be morally concerned about: 1) so many people living in poverty, 2) people not being personally responsible,    3) families breaking down under many pressures, 4) lack of respect for life, including abortion, 5) greed at the expense of others, 6) permissive attitudes and lack of discipline, 7) hard work not rewarded, and 8) families threatened by gay marriage and “Hollywood” values. If I had to pick two things out of those list, and identify them as my most important moral concerns, I’d select “people not being personally responsible” as one of my two choices.

*8. I think that it is more important for children to learn to be themselves and not pay too much attention to what others think, rather than to learn to get along with others and find a place in society where they belong.

*9. Fighting with the police is never justifiable.

*10. I usually count on being successful at everything I do.

*11. Consider two opinions as to the value of planning and hard work. opinion 1) In the long run, hard work usually brings a better life. opinion 2) Hard work doesn’t generally bring success -- it’s more a matter of luck and connections. My own view is closer to that of opinion 2).

*12. Traditional policies of the Catholic Church should be changed and priests should be allowed to marry.

*13. I believe that to be a good person it is very important to actively seek social and economic justice.
